ACTIVITY: DIY DREAMCATCHER
MATERIAL:
-21cm (8 inch) rattan hoop
-8cm (3 inch) rattan or metal craft ring
-Craft feathers (you'll need seven large feathers and about 20 small ones)
-Wooden beads in varying sizes - I used beads 7mm (a quarter inch) to 2cm                                            (three quarters of an inch) in diameter
-8 skeins of Perle 5 thread in complementary hues
-Scissors

HANG YOUR DREAMCATCHER

Dreamcatchers are said to protect you from nightmares, and are traditionally hung above the bed. "Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through. Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day. Good dreams would pass through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper."

Sweet dreams!
In this tutorial, you learned how to create a modern spin on a traditional dreamcatcher, using a variety of wrapping techniques. You also learned how to cut the fringe and attach individual feathers to each thread.
You could experiment with additional beads in the centre of the dreamcatcher,as well as different colourways.

3 MARCH 2015

ACTIVITY : Self Esteem Portraits

We had carried out a Self Esteem Portraits activity and welcomed every student to join this activity including our club members. We had come out with an idea to carry out this activity as to promote self-esteem among the students and indirectly we were helping the students to widen their friend-chains. Some students tend to stay alone and don’t have confidence to start communicate with others especially students who came here alone by themselves and it’s a little bit hard for them to fit into the new environment. It really takes time.

We had asked the students who participated in this activity to write out their own positive characteristics. As for purpose , we wanted them to have faith in themselves and always look for the bright sides of themselves.

It’s really important to build high self-esteem in oneself. The main reason is it makes life become simpler and lighter. It will make you to be more attractive in different relationships. With a better self-esteem , you’ll be able to handle challenges easily and rationally better not matter if it is with a friend , at work or with a partner.

The results of this activity carried out is to encourage every participants to make new friends from different courses and to spend time to brush up their braveness ,skills of communication as well.
We did find that , our goal has been reached successfully.

Pistachio Shell Flowers

We had came out of an idea to do Pistachio Shell Flowers as we found that it’s quite an interesting activity to be carried out. Therefore, since the first day of meeting , we treated every member of our Art Club to eat Pistachio. We then kept all the Pistachio shells. Months later , we did collect a lot of the shells. On the following week , we cleaned up the Pistachio shells and dried them under the sun.

The things needed for this activity are dried Pistachio shells , glue guns , round-cut hard papers , watercolours , small paintbrushes and paper bowls.

To make each Pistachio Shell Flower , 50-60 Pistachio shells are needed.
